turtlespeed 226 #1 December 28, 2012 Now all I have to do is stay motivated and not frustrated. Any tips on how to do those two things simultaneously?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
oldwomanc6 60 #2 December 28, 2012 Well , you have to be talented enough to learn enough right away so you can amaze your family and friends , but not be such a prodigy that you become bored and feel you are too good and above it all! . lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB

muff528 3 #6 December 28, 2012 Don't get a cheapo. You'll lose interest fast. There are a lot of inexpensive, quality guitars. A Chinese Yamaha, for example, makes a decent starter. There are a lot of others of similar quality and price. Have someone set the action light. Find someone to play with ...or a group that meets regularly. Try not to pick up bad habits. Have fun! Don't learn "House of the Rising Sun" or "Free Bird" ...or "Stairway to Heaven".

unkulunkulu 0 #9 December 30, 2012 I would suggest you get a teacher, not just try and learn by yourself. I've started this thing a year ago and had a very-very good teacher, he recently moved to the US to join some band and now I'm a bit lost, thinking about finding another one. With a teacher you have more discipline, you know you have to demonstrate your homework to him the next week, plus he can give right advice to help you advance better and get rid of typical mistakes. Good luck.

turtlespeed 226 #11 December 30, 2012 I'm going to give myself a year to be able to play it. And another 3 to play it well. After that you can learn another song ...I'll suggest "Wipe Out" or maybe "Chiquitita".
