Kennedy 0 #29 January 8, 2013 Wow, I wonder who paid for the Bama win. That's three horrendous calls already. Even the announcers are saying the refs are screwing the pooch. That instant replay didn't overrule a clearly incorrect on-field call makes me ask WTF?!? ETA: Bad calls are (1) calling ND80 no-catch on third down forcing a punt. (2) calling a faircatch contact penalty and no fumble on the punt, and (3) giving Bama a first down on third that should have been 4th and punt. Way to hand the game to a team instead of at least making them win it on their own. ETA more: This is just friggin ridiculous. At least they're going to review the terrible call of (4) fumble when the knee was clearly down before the ball came out. Anybody care to guess on whether they'll overturn this one?witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
CanuckInUSA 0 #30 January 8, 2013 A couple of bad calls from the refs for sure. But I don't think it would have matter too much. The Tide is beginning to roll and the Irish don't seem to have any answers. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Kennedy 0 #31 January 8, 2013 Very true. I don't love or hate either team, I just can't stand refs deciding who wins. Right now it should probably be 14-7 Bama, or maybe even 21-7, but the refs shut down ND offense more effectively that the Tide. I just want to see the teams play.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

CanuckInUSA 0 #34 January 8, 2013 Why Notre Dame went into this game rank #1 is a mystery. There was never any doubt that Alabama was going to smack them down and smack them down hard. I wish the other conferences were stronger and more competitive, but the elite teams rising to the top of the SEC are just so much better than anyone else. Congrats to the Tide for yet another championship. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
BillyVance 35 #35 January 8, 2013 Never in my wildest dreams did I think Alabama would run up to 35-0 before ND finally scored. I was pretty confident that Alabama had better players across the board than ND and would win, but damn... That was an embarrassing performance by the Irish. They were clearly outclassed. As for the officiating, yeah it was bad early on. It's a PAC-12 crew. Calls missed or mis-called on both sides, but in the end Alabama made sure they didn't matter. Watch out for the Tide next fall. They're coming back even deeper. They will lose 2, maybe 3 offensive linemen (Warmack and Jones are done, and Fluker is a 4th year junior who already has his degree) but there are plenty of reserve linemen ready to step up and compete. One pair to watch for next fall: Cyrus and Arie Kouandjio at left tackle and right guard, respectively. The talent already at Alabama at WR and RB is the best I have ever seen this season. But wait, it gets even better. You'll see 4, even 5 RBs get plenty of playing time. They'll just rotate in and out, staying fresh and limiting the pounding they take in games. And WRs, wow... they've never had it this good, even with losing White, Black and Bell to injuries. Alabama will be fully stocked at QB as well, with AJ McCarron returning for his senior year, with 3 new QBs coming in the fall in addition to the other 2 already on the team. What's scary is, this season was supposed to be a rebuilding year on defense. They did an amazing job filling in the 9 positions lost from last season and continued to lead the country in several statistics. Look out, they should get even better this fall. The best LB in college football, (in my opinion) CJ Mosley, is coming back for his senior year, and there are plenty of good LBs, at least 12, that could start most anywhere else. We do lose Jeremy Shelley, the only kicker in the nation with a perfect record in PATs and FGs so that will be something to look at this fall. A favorable schedule this fall with open dates before Texas A&M and LSU and there's no reason to think Alabama can't make it back to Atlanta for another SEC championship and another BCS bid. It won't be easy. The target on their backs gets bigger. Every opponent on their schedule will have that game circled on their calendar as THE game they must play their best, and Coach Saban will have to battle the mental complacency aspect to keep his team focused and hungry. It's a great time to be an Alabama fan. Roll Tide. Now on to signing day for another top 5 recruiting class. Enjoyed it, tremendously. That spat between McCarron and Jones was a bit shocking. Wonder what Saban said to them later? Quote We do lose Jeremy Shelley, the only kicker in the nation with a perfect record in PATs and FGs so that will be something to look at this fall. After the 6-3 game against LSU in 'Bama two years ago, we all said that Saban should get a field goal kicker. Well, he did. 'Bama is going to be dominant for a very long time, and I think that's a beautiful thing. It would be nicer if LSU managed that caliber, but I stopped bleeding purple a long time ago. Many kudos to Saban and 'Bama. We are all engines of karma

The one the replay showed he juggled the ball and was already out of bounds when he finally locked it in? 2. The one that the rule doesn't require contact? You know the ND coach was protesting the weak/late fair catch signal and not the "contact". 3. Which one was that...I don't recall. My reality and yours are quite different. AJ explained it in a video on al.com but I can't hear it. But I believe Barrett saw something and changed the protection scheme and AJ flipped out wanting to call what he wanted. What can I say? They're great friends and roommates. Even they can get into a spat every now and then. Maybe on a national stage wasn't the best place but AJ's a fiery player. He has the passion and bleeds Crimson. Barrett's the calm and steady competitor. Great combo. Barrett goes out as probably the greatest offensive lineman in Alabama history, even better than college football and NFL hall of famer John Hannah. Barrett started the 2009 BCS championship season as a true freshman right guard. Then the 2011 BCS championship season as a junior left tackle (also 2010), and finally this year at center. All very different positions with different protection and technique sets. Even Hannah said he couldn't do that. Thanks Barrett, for the great times and memories. Oh and did you know he faced Michael Oher once as a freshman DL in high school? Beat him twice, but the 3rd time Oher pancake blocked him LOL. The same Oher depicted in the movie The Blind Side. Barrett has said ever since that day he wanted to be as good or better than Oher. But could we have beaten Auburn that bad? Definitely, and worse. Alabama scored TDs on their first 7 possessions, 6 in the first half and the first drive of the 3rd quarter before the starters left the game to the back-ups. They definitely could have scored 4 or 5 more if they wanted to, but there was the SEC title game with Georgia the following week so...."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
