Stumpy 284 #28 January 11, 2013 Quote IMO they should have had SEVERAL people in case one person fell and was unable to stop the rolling ball. Thats just one tiny part of it. The company here in NZ that invented this were in an article about this the other day. They don't allow 2 person harnesses, and they have a code of practice that it basically looks like these guys completely ignored that includes things like huge berms to keep the ball on line and so on. My take on this - cowboy operators being idiots. (and if they stole the zorbs then thats doubly bad) Edited to add: found the link http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/8161829/Russian-Zorb-pair-flee-after-man-killedNever try to eat more than you can lift

Yep - this is analagous to a couple of people buying a plane and a rig and setting themselves up as a tandem operation with zero experience. Not quite sure how you're getting that. Is there evidence that this group of people bought a big ball and decided to have at it? I hadn't heard that. I got the impression it was an operation at a resort or some such. Which puts it in the category of a sanctioned (and hopefully) legit operation. If it was a bunch of idiots with a ball bought on the internet, well, it falls under the stupid (unfortunately fatal) things that people do. If this was done under a supposedly real activity offered at a resort (or represented as experienced), well, then it is not the victim's fault that the shop was incompetent. The onus falls on those running the ride, and those who are supposed to protect the public at these places.lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB

OHCHUTE 0 #33 January 12, 2013 Someone went over Niagra Fall in one of these and survived but the ride probably was not as rough as this one. Trust no one, including the ferris wheel operator, or people coming towards you in a car. Their head is probably down looking at their cell.
