loch1957 0 #1 January 25, 2013 I was sitting reading in speakers corner and I realized that we spend so much time looking at and dwelling on the evils of our time, that we often over look the joy. We post about firearms, taxes, economic woes only to cover a few. We often bicker about things (usually in fun) but very few of us seem to dwell on the great times. Any time theres a death we all post happy thoughts from the past, but that doesn't last long. So lets have a thread about the good, the things that make us smile a bit. We all jump (no matter your experience level) to forget woes and to have fun. What has skydiving done for you? Are you happier now? It might be a bit corny but if we can have multiple threads about what an assault weapon really is cant we have as many about things we love? Hell I'm not shy I'll go first. Hi my name is James, I am addicted to jumping. What this sport has given me is 1~ I quit smoking to help fund it. 2~ I lost a shit load of weight just so I could jump. So as of November the 21st I am 55 years old, I no longer smoke and I lost 74 pounds. 225 pounds is nice to see in mirror these days. I no longer have to take meds for blood pressure. I'm still scared shitless of heights but I can deal with it. Its not all bad these days.Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.”
davjohns 1 #2 January 25, 2013 My grandfather once told me he didn't understand why people spoke so often of 'the good ol' days'. He said he once went on a date in a borrowed Model A Ford and had three flats during the date. His modern car never had flats. He said, 'These ARE the good ol' days'.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
