I have very very little stress in my life, mostly because I choose to not have it. Same with boredom, I dont get bored because it's a choice. OHCHUTE 0 #28 February 11, 2013 Eat less fat. Exercise and get plenty of rest. It will do wonders. Try figuring out what is causing the stress. Then remove that from your life. And stop worrying. You'll be OK. OH stay off Facebook, the computer and webforums. Socialize with friends in person.
Nataly 38 #29 February 12, 2013 I'm not that good at dealing with stress... But I can tell you some of the stuff that makes it *worse*... 1. drinking more coffee 2. eating comfort foods (makes me feel lethargic and therefore everything takes more energy) 3. doing nothing / ignoring the issues (when I get overwhelmed it's because I don't have a precise understanding of what is bugging me... When I *do* know exactly what the problem is, I usually realise the "worst-case-scenario" isn't really that bad...) 4. not sleeping enough (ie: staying up late, spending hours on the computer, keeping my brain in overdrive) 5. not delegating (especially when I am doing a bunch of stuff that others *should* be doing - either because they are more competent or because it's their job/responsibility) 6. not saying no / not admitting I'm drowning (goes with the above, but sometimes just letting other people know you are overwhelmed means they will help / offer solutions) 7. over-thinking (I work myself into knots for no good reason - it's totally self-inflicted!) 8. not taking any breaks (just 5 minutes away from all the stress can do wonders, but I tend to keep working - through lunch, through the nights, et cetera. In fact I am much more effective when I occasionally pause and just breathe a little.) Don't know if any of that helps... FlyingRhenquest 1 #30 February 12, 2013 I'll agree with all those things. In particular, not taking any brakes. I've hit up on problems at work that seem impossible toward the end of the day, but after a night's sleep I sort them out in the first hour of the day. Probably the most stressful time of my life was as a student, and if I'd just procrastinated projects less and had enough design time and breaks while doing them, I think they'd all have been a lot easier.I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. skymama 37 #31 February 12, 2013 Where is your stress coming from? Your personal life, work life, pain from injuries, worrying about things? I think working towards making a change in your life to get rid of the things that are stressing you out is a good first step. I also agree that a little exercise can do wonders. You're able to walk, right? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
skydiverbry 0 #32 February 12, 2013 My main stressors are my inability to work, pain from my injuries and now I am going through a divorce. I do exercise and socialize beyond cyber space but still feel stressed out. How do you get rid of chronic pain is one good question.........in pain management already. skymama 37 #33 February 12, 2013 I've done PT for various body parts over the years and the therapists always want me to move more, not less. That's why I was asking if you can walk; it might be a good stress reliever for you because exercise releases endorphines (which are mood enhancers) and a good walk might also help your back. Of course, check with your Therapist first. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

FlyingRhenquest 1 #35 February 12, 2013 Did you try the medical marijuana? I hear it does wonders for pain and stress. Talk to your doctor, yadda yadda. Even if you don't live in a state where it's legal, it's probably still worth discussing. Maybe you could arrange to take a medical vacation in a state where it is.I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?
