Conquest Slider

Recommended Posts

I've acquired a Conquest 170 with about 15-20 jumps total for a great price. I've jumped it 3 times so far and was smacked on the first two. On the third, I rolled the nose and tail and the opening was much softer. After speaking to a rigger, he suggested putting a larger slider on it. Anyone have any idea where one may be acquired? I've been told that it was made by PISA.

It was made by Pisa. The design is flawed.

Keep this in mind, and please take it seriously. If you pull down on the front risers while flying Conquest, expect that it will collapse. It may not every time, but it will do it.

If you must fly that canopy, don't use the front risers to gain speed for landing.

If you wish to test out the fronts, I highly suggest doing it up at high altitude because it can get exciting very quickly.

Near the ground ... do I need to say more?

Don't smack into the ground. Ask around about the conquest. skygod7777 is familiar with the conquest problem as well, and I'm sure others around here will back me up on that, if they care to.

The Pisa Conquest should not be front risered to gain speed.

Good luck.

I have that canopy in a 230.. and I put a hundred jumps on it and Hookitt is right.. although with practice you can play with front risers a bit I would not try it down low under 2500 ft.. When I did do fronts on it the canopy tried to fold under on that side when doing a front riser turn.. and it got really musshy and tried to collapse when I pulled in both of them really hard.
Its an older design and the canopy did slam me a couple times.. I solved that by psycho packing it.. rolling the nose on each side into the center.. very tightly and then rolling the tail very tightly then doing the psycho pack roll. Mine came with a large slider that Ralph put on it when I bought it from him. All in all the canopy.. is a 9 cell ZP and flies well and landed me without any issues on any of the jumps.. BUT it does not do some of the things a newer canopy will do for you.

Thanks for the input. I noticed the front riser situation on the first jump, (at around 4k). I'm a pretty conservative canopy pilot, so gaining speed with risers doesn't come into the picture. The last time I was anywhere near a swoop pond was when they were excavating the one at Cross Keys. I'm happy with the general performance, so far, and I'm using it in my second rig. Thanks again.
