Andy9o8 2 #26 February 2, 2013 Quote Well here's one that flummoxed me a little, When the Doctor had finished rollicking me he told the nurse to put a silver patch over the wound, I quipped as quick as a flash "Oh so If I'd gone private would it be a gold patch" needless to say he wasn't amused. Turns out that the patch releases silver over a six day period and helps healing, Never heard of that one. Interesting Cochrane analysis of clinical studies of efficacy of silver as a topical wound disinfectant. Read and decide for yourself.
Zep 0 #27 February 19, 2013 Well now nearly six weeks in seems the silver patch isn't as good as they thought. The injury got infected so they had to open it up an clean it. Now my foot and leg are really swollen, foots cold and I have a blood clot stuck just above the knee, the surgeon says it's to swollen to operate so I'm back to injections every day and a load of pills. Tip of the day, whatever your doing wear the right clothing for the job. Gone fishing
Andy9o8 2 #28 February 19, 2013 Well, in my Feb 2 post I was trying to gently say that, to my LAYMAN'S eyes, it didn't seem that silver treatment was considered all that promising. But I'm a layman, and not medically trained, so I didn't want to speak "out of school", and I might be totally wrong. Let me continue to be diplomatic: I'm quite unfamiliuar with the quality and technological currency of the medical treatment you're getting in Spain. How does it stack up in comparision to treatment available in other Western European/EU countries, or perhaps North America?

Over the years I've had accidents (a couple life threatening, one where my heart had stopped) At times I've had medical insurance which went with the job, The only difference I've found is that with insurance was that the general level of comfort was higher ie; better beds, better menus, and more relaxing surroundings. The actual medical care was at the same level weather private or on the social security system. Gone fishing
