I live on a great 20 mile bike trail that winds thru the valley and along the Puyallup river, beautiful scenery. My old Schwinn combo 10 spd may be heavier than the touring bikes and have fatter tires, but I'm riding for fresh air and exercise, not to set a Tour de France record. skyjumpenfool 2 #12 March 3, 2013 I remember back in Jr. High school wanting a new pair of boots and skis. The ones I had were leather and the new "plastic" boots were out. I told my dad my desire to update my equiptment and he asked me why? I explained about the "new" equiptment. His response... "Some day they'll make a ski boot with a strap that attaches to your ass! And, you'll want a pair of those too. .... I miss my Dad. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

BillyVance 35 #20 March 3, 2013 I still have my Diamondback road 21 speed bicycle and its 22 years old, but I haven't ridden it in 15 years. Still looks good, just needs a wipe down, trued wheels and its good to go. It cost me $350. When I was a kid, I had a beautiful Schwinn 18 speed road bike that got stolen. Man I was so pissed. Ended up getting a non-descript used 10 speed bike at a garage sale for $15. wmw999 2,589 #24 March 3, 2013 QuoteI had a beautiful Windsor 10 speed, skinny tires, etcOh my. When my bike was stolen mid-junior year in college, I went looking, and tried out a Windsor, with a 17" frame. It was perfect, incredibly perfect. But about $450. While I had just gotten an unexpected scholarship, it still left me with a decision whether to get books that semester, or the Windsor. A piece of me still regrets not having gotten the Windsor.
