fpritchett64 0 #1 April 26, 2013 ...For the dreaded pain to begin. Had surgery today on my left shoulder due to an injury several months ago shooting my bow. Arthroscopic surgery to repair a slap tear. Ended up being a slap tear repair, rotator cuff repair, and shaved off some of my collar bone. 12 hours later and the block is starting to fade. Anticipating some hellacious pain shortly. Doc says 6 months to 1 year for full recovery. Good news... I have some good insurance, great employer, sweet pain meds, and a wonderful fiancé who is keeping my polar pack stocked with nice ice cold water. Bad news... No bowhunting this season and can't return to the streets for a long time. Anybody willing to assist with entertainment? Ideas?

MikeJD 0 #11 April 26, 2013 If you're going to have pain that you can't or don't want to control with drugs, you could try teaching yourself meditation techniques. Apparently meditation can make a big difference. It may take a while to get practised at it, but it sounds like you'll have plenty of time on your hands. Good luck with your recovery! Never tried the meditation. Never really put much weight into it. Surprisingly, the pain hasn't been that bad since the block wore off. I'm sure I'll feel it once I start physical therapy. fpritchett64 0 #15 April 27, 2013 QuotePT and then some. No kidding. I have my first follow up on Wednesday May 1st. I believe they'll schedule my first PT appointment then. Not looking forward to that cost though. My co-pay is $40.00/session. I have to take this stuff seriously though. Gotta get back to work as quickly as possible. I'm sure the PT will be key in a speedy and successful recovery.

It could be part of my meditation routine.
