airtwardo 7 #1 May 21, 2013 Did you guys know... ...they make these little battery operated computer thingies that ya can attach to your rig and it might pull the reserve for ya if your brain locks up! (or more likely in my case a Stroke ) Well me being a 'cutting edge' kinda guy, I went ahead and ordered me up one of them 'Oh Shit Detectors' yesterday. I bet all my buddies at the DZ will be jealous ...and want one TOO! Actually I ordered it last night to make life easier on Capt. Mom...see I've been Skydiving coming up on 39 years, she was wondering if I'd ever thought about how long I would continue in the sport ~ the manual on this things says 20 more years! You BOTH ?? never had an AAD??? or You did,,, and it timed out???... many of my buddys who got a cypres in the 90s' and never did anything to require it to fire.... have now watched it reach the 12 year 3 month functional lifetime... some reached it a few years ago...and now they have an expensive paperweight!!! I waited and watched.... as has been my M.O. since the days that reserves went to our backs and the Ram Air canopies become commonplace...So it was 2002 when I found a good and fair deal...on a new expert cypres..... here on DZ dot com.. I'd thought about it a few times over the past couple of years, but since I've usually relegated my jumping to the extremely conservative side I kept putting it off. Decided to cut back on the demos & start hitting some boogies for a change so I'm kinda seeing a need. That and I'm dragging the rig across the pond a few times this summer..they're mandatory in most place in Europe - - so I guess it's time. ~as far as the brand goes...tough to beat room tempature Hubers!
