JohnnyMarko 1 #1 May 2, 2013 Hi kids, Need some input on nice, young, neighborhoods to live in near dt Denver. My buddy and I are moving at the end of July and want to find a nice place to live. Others in my fam have said to stay away from Five Points. My sis lived in Lodo for a while, and I've heard Capitol Hill and Cheesman Park are nice too. Also Highlands are an options. Any other places you guys would recommend? Stay away from?
Muffie 0 #2 May 2, 2013 Kind of depends on what you're looking for...Do you want to be near a lot of restaurants and social activity? Do you want to be near the mountains for a quick hike? Wind tunnel? Dropzone? I'm also not sure that advice about Five Points is true anymore. When I was growing up that was definitely true, but I think it's undergone a revitalization with the light rail being built there and all.
SkyCoi 0 #3 May 2, 2013 Five Points is up-n-coming, so I wouldn't write it off. Cap Hill and Cheesman are both great areas, as is Cherry Creek, Bonnie Brae and Wash Park. All relatively in the same area, with Cap Hill and Cheesman probably somewhat less expensive. I would avoid Aurora and, if you plan to work DT, anything South of I-225 and North of I-70 simply because of the commute. My girlfriend lived in Parker, and it was 1 - 1.5 hours to DT during rush hour. Golden is another great area, home of the Coors Brewery, and pretty centrally located to the mountains, Denver and Boulder. Longmont is where Mile High is located, and is roughly 1 hour from downtown Denver. Canon City has the only other non-Cessna DZ (that I'm aware of), and that's 1.5 hours. Good luck with your move, feel free to PM me with any specific questions.

Golden was the first place that popped into my mind. It's generally younger, out of the hustle of downtown but well within reach especually now that the "W" light rail line has opened. It's super close to the mountains and a only about 45 min from Mile-Hi if you head up 93. I live in that weird grey area between golden/lakewood/morrison and love it. BigMikeH77 0 #6 June 30, 2013 That's fantastic! You'll like it here when there's no oppressive heat, raging wildfires, bone chilling cold fronts, or society crippling blizzards!
