catfishhunter 2 #1 July 11, 2013 Papered name is Virgil Vom Wastach family Name is Vadar he is the V litter from the Wastach Kennel. He is a Deutsch Drahthaar. He is 8 weeks old and he has been with us a week Sunday. He is almost potty trained and knows sit and shake already. I didn't want another animal after we put our cat, Charlie girl down but Lora's argument for him after her emergency surgery far outweighed anything I could come up with for not having another pet. And you know what? I am really really happy and so in love with this little guy, well he is little now but he will be about 70lbs full grown. Good thing is he will earn his keep they are an amazing hunting breed. Yeah I'm whooped MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. TriGirl 343 #3 July 11, 2013 NorrinRadd ... so cute! That's what I said! CFH -- congratulations on the addition to the family. Adorable little guy! Incidentally, when I saw the thread title, I thought Vader (the other one) had come to crash at your place. Or proposed to your daughter. Or was otherwise obligated to marry your daughter. catfishhunter 2 #4 July 11, 2013 LOL yes I have a daughter and though we are all Star War fans I don't think I want a Vader as a son in law. Is he (your Vader) microchipped? Oh yes Chipped and tattooed. The German Breeding association is extremely strict. They have to be tattooed at a couple of weeks old. You cannot even breed these dogs unless they pass very strict trials. His Daddy scored at the very top of the charts and his mother was on the higher middle tier. He is incredibly smart and bred to hunt. He didn't even flinch at the fireworks which is good because if the dog flinches at the sound of a gun during trials it can never be bred. We got really lucky he was the pick of the litter but his daddy's owner already had two pups this year and didn't have time to train a third so we got him :) MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. Very friendly, went up to everybody on the shop floor, so one of us went out to get dog food and bowls for him. He's now our shop dog. Catahoulas are awesome hunting dogs and fiercely loyal to their owners... I'm mentioning it because this pup also has huge paws."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Not to throw a wet blanket on your bonding, but did you take it to a vet to see if it belonged to someone?
