migliore 0 #1 November 17, 2004 My main closing pin is starting to show small signs of wear and I was curious if it is possible for a rigger to replace the pin without replacing the entire bridle/pilot chute. It is not a retractable pin bridle. Shane
diablopilot 2 #2 November 17, 2004 Yes. If you need a closing pin you can get one Here or your rigger might have one.....---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
mouth 0 #3 November 17, 2004 I would suggest having it done soon. Even the smallest of burr can cause your pin to wear through your bridle attachment... trust me on this one, I know. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. riggerrob 643 #4 November 17, 2004 It is a 5-minute job for a Master rigger to sew a new pin on your old bridle. ... maybe 10 minutes if it is a kill-line bridle. Definitely replace a rough closing pin early as the repair will save you hundreds of hours of anguish over frayed closing loops, premature openings, tails torn off of airplanes, etc.
migliore 0 #5 November 17, 2004 Thanks. I'll get it done soon. Shane

nitrochute 2 #7 November 17, 2004 LOL.all joking aside,it is imperative that whoever does the job, that it is done correctly.incorrectly installed pin could come off the bridle leaving you with a pilotchute in tow.make sure your rigger is a good one. i'm a rigger myself(over 25 years) and i will tell you, there are riggers out there that i wouldnt let pack my lunch, let alone my rig.make sure you work with a COMPETANT rigger.
