Banged up Main Closing Pin

Recommended Posts

I would suggest having it done soon. Even the smallest of burr can cause your pin to wear through your bridle attachment... trust me on this one, I know.

It is a 5-minute job for a Master rigger to sew a new pin on your old bridle.
... maybe 10 minutes if it is a kill-line bridle.

Definitely replace a rough closing pin early as the repair will save you hundreds of hours of anguish over frayed closing loops, premature openings, tails torn off of airplanes, etc.

LOL.all joking aside,it is imperative that whoever does the job, that it is done correctly.incorrectly installed pin could come off the bridle leaving you with a pilotchute in tow.make sure your rigger is a good one. i'm a rigger myself(over 25 years) and i will tell you, there are riggers out there that i wouldnt let pack my lunch, let alone my rig.make sure you work with a COMPETANT rigger.

My main closing pin is starting to show small signs of wear and I was curious if it is possible for a rigger to replace the pin without replacing the entire bridle/pilot chute. It is not a retractable pin bridle.

Hey Shane,
I have pins in stock and can take care of that if you're out here this weekend...
