We already know.

Some know. Some have been there. ;)

I *still* feel bad about fucking up on the restaurant's schedule :( All that way just for one drink... Hope I get to make it up to both of you one day!!!

Think good thoughts...
[...] The more negative thoughts you let in, the less room there is for good.
This breeds itself like a cancer.

Thank you for this :)
Thanks also to Adam, Shroppy, Wendy, Ryoder (and so many more besides) for the positive messages and giggles as well :)
I think mostly I'm due for a vacation... I have some time off coming up - I'm sure it will do me a world of good. B|

Anyone can find themselves in a little funk. The important thing is to recognize it and turn it around and not just let it fester.
Remember to think good thoughts and avoid dwelling on negativity. It's really not that hard and gets easier over time.
It's worth ever bit of effort with your end result being peace with your self.
World peace...forget it, ain't never gonna happen. Being content and at peace with yourself is however very achievable and completely in your control
Glad we were able to help you out ....

I note from your prior posts that you understand the difference between a job and a career – I definitely see you in the latter, which is about developing yourself, not just the action/service you provide the company.

At some point in your career, you will be guaranteed to work within a company/setting that is dysfunctional. However, the first question to ask yourself is what do you want to achieve personally. Is it the money, respect, autonomy, admiration? Not meaning to go “Zen” on you, but what do you want?

Positive feedback on your benefit to a company doesn’t have to come from within the company itself; it can also come from the business community and your industry sector. Example: If you feel you have useful insights, why not write some articles for industry publications or get yourself known as a speaker/panellist at industry conferences. Albeit, this is not entirely altruistic for your company, but given the choice to do something that benefits the company vs. something that benefits the company & Nataly, I don’t think it’s selfish to opt for the latter.

***You're young...still time to get your plumbing license.

Was that a kid crack? :o:D:D

Hell no! Having kids is a guaranteed way to feel useless!

I've got the perfect solution for you. Get married, move to Minnesota, or maybe Saskatchewan, have 3 children, end your career, encumber yourself with a mortgage, travel nowhere, and live a life where your principal sources of recreation are having vapid conversations in the bagel shop and watching your children play hockey. Then you'll feel truly fulfilled.

OK, maybe that's not a solution, but it is perspective.

Okay, I've been retired for almost 2 months now and planes are not falling out of the sky left and right. I guess we're all replaceable. :)

I'm sure that's because you trained your replacement(s) so well :P:)
How is retired life treating you, BTW?

As for previous post about being a stay-at-home-mom in Saskatchewan... That's not necessarily a bad thing - for some people that is the very definition of a fulfilling life!! I'm sure those happy women wouldn't *dream* of trading places with me :)

Well, we've been super busy with the Leap for Lupus this summer (thanks for your support, BTW :)
In our spare time we're remodeling our new house, hoping to move in this fall. Then I have our present house and rental house to spruce up and sell. After that's done I might find some time to get bored.:D

The housewife in Saskatchewan thing? Vskydiver used to work in the medical field but quit after our first child. I think she enjoyed the stay-at-home-mom thing quite a bit. Of course, that included skydiving trips to the tropics and running her own business, so that'd be plenty for a lot of people. B|

This kind of describes my life. 3 children, live in Minnesota, married (then not married) same job 26 years and counting. At the risk of sounding like a self help guru, my biggest shift has been the idea that I am a Human Being not a Human Doing. My essential value comes from what kind of person I am and the values I show up with every day. I have seen strongly held values in what you have previously posted and if they are indicative of who you are, I would say that you are pretty darn valuable.

Just to be clear (to all), I wasn't dissing stay at home moms. I was suggesting to Nataly - by giving her one random benchmark for comparison - that she view the life and lifestyle she has, and has lived the past several years, and focus first and foremost on its positives.

Um dude, no less than like 3 planes have fallen out of the sky since then. Don't you watch the news when you're retired?
I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?

Actually I don't much, just listen to the news on NPR. :D

Sad fact is that there is a midair collision, on the average, about twice a month nationwide. Almost always VFR aircraft not receiving ATC services. . . [:/]

I was serious when I said my goal was to finish my career without one of those little "Vee's" on the scope taking out one of my airplanes. Had a few hairy moments from time to time. :S

Damn.[:/]
That would have been enough to send me back to sniffing glue.
