how do you size up?

You see on the classifides c-17 etc for containers to me thats plain ol chicken scratch. How do you size yourself up to these numbers. What do they mean.

What would be considered sm,med,lg,xlg. thnx

The C is the size yoke, or size of shoulders. I had a C yoke & I've got about a 42in chest. I have also seen a guy w/ probably a 38in chest w/ a C yoke. The largest size is a D the smallest is an A.

The 17 is about the inches from the top of your hip-bone to the hole in your throat. I'm 6'3" and I had a 19in. So my size harness from sunpath was a C-19.

Hope this helps. If not call the manufacturer. Every manuf. sizes their harness differently. The best thing to do is to ask the person what size they are.

Thats in Sunpath speak. Each manufactor has their own lingo for measuring things. Mirage for instance might be 17.5/+2 which means something else. I'm 6'2" and needed a C-20.

Best thing to do in looking at used gear is to get some one to fill out your measurements on the order form for that type of rigand then get the serial# of the rig you are looking at. Manufactors keep a dataase of all the measurements of the rigs they built. Then you can call and ask if your measurements would fit that serial number. Each rig asks to be measured slightly different so make sure you follow the instructions for each one.

There is also a lateral measurement and a split measurement that arent often given. YOur best bet is to contact Sunpath (or whatever other rigs you are looking at) with you measurements and the serial number of the rig you are looking for.
