quade 4 #2 October 15, 2013 Pretty sure I'd do okay. Of course, I used to teach people how to fly airplanes so I got that going for me. This sort of thing happens every year or two. AOPA has a program for nervous non-pilot flying partners (spouses usually) to teach them the basics should it ever come up. http://www.aopa.org/letsgoflying/dream/whyfly/spouse.html quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

wolfriverjoe 1,523 #5 October 15, 2013 As Quade said, it happens every so often. Sometimes they get an instructor into the control tower, other times they get one to fly another plane up near the one in trouble. Considering that a flight instructor's job is to tell people how to land the plane, the fact that it often turns out well isn't too surprising. "Well" meaning that the plane lands in one piece. Sometimes not completely without incident, and the stricken pilot often is dead, but the passengers usually survive."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
