LuckyMcSwervy 0 #26 October 28, 2013 theonlyski ****** Case in point, awhile back, I went to traffic school to expunge a ticket from my record. The instructor asked the class "how far behind a car should you stop at a traffic light/sign?" The men, to a tee, said "far enough behind the car so if someone rear-ends you, you won't get driven into the car in front of you." None of the other women even peeped up, until I said "far enough behind that you can still escape." All of a sudden, the other women chimed in and agreed emphatically. I once attended a lecture by a security professional who made that exact point. I always drive in a manner that I have a route out. The girlfriend thinks it's amazing that I can almost always predict peoples driving and next move... I consider it a survival skill. You NEED survival skills driving in your neck of the woods. Jesus Christ!! It's worse than the New Jersey Turnpike drivers down there!!! Always be kinder than you feel.
rifleman 70 #27 October 29, 2013 One of my instructors told me that if you can see where the bottom of the car in front's tyres are in contact with the road over your bonnet (hood) then you have sufficient space to turn your car past the car in front without hitting them.Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
theonlyski 8 #28 October 29, 2013 Honestly, I'm not overly concerned with hitting another vehicle if shit hits the fan. We practiced "break out box" scenarios just for that situation (yes, we actually rammed cars during the practice). Knowing how to ram a barricade of cars helps too. People think they're going to stop you dead in your tracks, but they can be defeated normally."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

How to hit another car to disable it without disabling your own. Where to push to move it out of the way (hint: the back is usually a lot lighter than the front). Another fun one is driving from the passenger seat. In case the driver is incapacitated or too busy doing something else. At the risk of moving this to SC, sheep just sit there and take it, sheepdogs have teeth and know how to use them."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It's a little strange to steer from the "wrong side" of the car, but with a little practice, it's no problem. You won't drive the car out of a bad situation with an incapacitated driver, but you will be able to control the car well enough to keep from driving into a tree or oncoming traffic if the driver has a heart attack. To manipulate the pedals, you either need a bench seat or help from the driver."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Unfortunately, despite years of trying, I am unable to move stuff telepathically. I couldn't even use the "Jedi Mind Trick" to get my dog to stop barking. I even used the "hand gesture" and everything (I had taught him hand signals for most commands - the rotating the hand with fingers extended was the one for "stop barking") My midichlorian count must be too low.
