Hard opening heatwave??

Recommended Posts

Ok, if you look at the forum about a week ago i posted a question about purchasing a large slider. well the reason is i am thinking about purchasing a heatwave 120 but the guy i am buying from says it opens really hard. That kindof puzzles me because i have never heard of one opening hard, at least not a 120, i know some of the 135 had trouble with the wrong slider, but not the 120. i had a 135 but a couple of weeks ago i lost it after a cutaway, but it never open really hard, sometimes a little stiff, but nothing i would consider hard. so i guess my question is, if anyone out there has experience with heatwaves opening really hard? and what could possible cause it to open hard, i am thinking pack job, but that is just a thought. thanks.

what's up

i've had a few heatwaves (a 150, 135, 120, 100) and didn't have any problems when them until they started going out of trim.

my dad has had 2 190's that went out of trim and where opening pretty hard. we put a pocket on the slider and that helped, but it only prolonged the problem.

they best thing to do if you get the canopy is send it back to aerodyne and have them put a new line set on it. you may even ask for a vectran line set, vectran doesn't go out of trim. it won't last as long as spectra either though. but if you think about it, if you want the canopy to fly right, you'll have to replace the spectra when it start going out of trim, so i guess it's really a toss up.

hope that helps.
