Spiders kind of creep me out. My tolerance for them has been going up lately. We had a fruit fly invasion this summer. Given a choice between spiders (which are creepy) and fruit flies, which are just fucking annoying, I'll take the spiders.

Funnily enough I can handle snakes without fear. Maybe it's because where I grew up there were none. I have a hazy memory of collecting spiders from their webs when I was 3 or 4, in Okinawa. I figure either I got bitten or some adult freaked out at me about it. I'd guess the latter. Most of the adults in my life at the time probably wouldn't take kindly to being presented with a bag full of spiders by an enthusiastic 4-year-old...
I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?

For me, it's revolving doors.I just know they will someday chop my fingers off.

Never even thought of that. I do so much with power tools I have realistic worries of chopping my fingers off.:P:D

I know escalators are more dangerous than people think. Watch those shoes against the sides. :o

Too many of the people at Walmart freak me out, but hell, I still shop there 2-3 times a week. :D

People who wash their chicken in the sink and then don't wipe off the sink and counters with bleach, and then prepare all of the other food right there on the same counters. Blech!

Sitting under overpasses. I lived in a city where one collapsed, once, so I can't sit under one without thinking about it.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I would NOT put that down as an irrational fear. Very rational to me. We keep a jug of bleach right under the kitchen sink. Gets used every time I clean up, esp. before and after food prep.

My mother-in-law is phobic about driving under a railway bridge with a train on it. I can't think of any phobias I have. All my fears seem very rational to me, of course.:D

That reminds me of the Sunshine Skyway bridge that went down in St. Pete, FL. I lived on that coast and was a newbie driver at the time. It totally creeped me out to get to the top of the bridge and see the other span just GONE.

That kind of creep you out.

What are yours?

For me, it's revolving doors. I know thousands of people walk through them every day, but I just know they will someday chop my fingers off.

And clowns.

Have you ever gone to YouTube and searched for "ICP"?:)
