Thanksgiving Day/Weekend Plans?

Recommended Posts

'Rents come into town tomorrow and stay for a week. Monday's my b'day so we'll do a nice dinner out. Thursday we'll probably do the tradition of a matinee movie, and late afternoon dinner. (This year I'm feeling lazy so I've got a complete dinner on order from Whole Foods ... no cooking, just heating! B|). On Black Friday we might go watch horsies if the weather's cooperative. Absolutely no shopping. :)

- Thanksgiving

- New Years

In each case, most people are home doing the family thing, (or the hangover thing for NY's), and there are no crowds until after lunch.B|

We already hosted our families last weekend for Thanksgiving. We had 30 family members combined, it was a really nice time. So on the actual T Day, I hope to be taking Normiss on my favorite hike in NC to my favorite waterfall, Rainbow Falls. It's only going to be 40 degrees out though; that wasn't in the plan when I made our schedule a couple months ago!

That sounds just perfect. Family, birthday, movies, only heating dinner and no shopping on Black Friday!! You're lucky!! B|

Well, I can't arrange a Turkey-week birthday for everyone, and family time may not work out for all, but the rest is possible for anyone. Especially the "no shopping" thing. :D:)

I will absolutely concur. I recall arriving at Mt. Bachelor at about 730 a.m. on January 1, 2000. There were a few inches of fresh snow (never been on undisturbed snow before or since at a slope) and there may have been a total of fifty people there. Within an hour maybe 100 more arrived. It was awesome.

As far as Thanksgiving, Dawnmarie, our kids and I are doing Thanksgiving at my ex-wife's house with my former in-laws and my first two kids. I know, I know... Glutton for punishment, eh?

Spending the holiday with brother-in-law and his family. Thankfully, they leave Saturday so I can sit in front of the TV and watch the biggest Iron Bowl in decades (#1 Alabama at #6 Auburn). Winner goes to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta the following Saturday. Roll Damn Tide. B|

Yes, they are!! We just got some breaking weather news here that the Poconos (STOP LAUGHING!!) are getting snow this week with the N'oreaster heading our way. I'm hitting the slopes alone if I have to. Won't be the first time, won't be the last time!! B|

Are you a First Trax person? I am! You guys are getting some snow now, right?? :)

Well yeah:D, but it's cool that the grownups can play nice enough to give the kids a chance to hang with all their sibs. B|

Oh man! That's beautiful!! Sounds like the rain that's coming may swell the river as the website mentions. 40s for hiking sounds great. Take pictures, please! B|

I think it's sweet you guys all got together beforehand since you wouldn't be in town. Hope your SIL picked up on that one!! ;)

My xH birthday is the 25th so once in a while he got a double holiday and it was nice. I don't remember the last time I spent money on Black Friday. I'm ready to turn off the television now with all of the BF commercials.

Both my brother and I have Turkey week birthdays. On the one hand it's nice because it means we often spend our birthdays with family, on the other hand if/when we had parties, they often ended up being well away from our actual birthdays because of the holidays.

But, y'know, firstworldproblems. :D:D

Hmm

Tuesday: Wind tunnel session in Denver
Wednesday: Pick up fresh turkey, put it in its brine.
Thursday: Cook turkey, gravy, potatoes.
Friday: Tryptophane coma
Saturday: Maybe skydiving
Sunday: Maybe skydiving.

If I'm not skydiving, I'll probably be working on some project or other. I have a "laser" I've wanted to get knocked out for a while. If I can get that done, I'll have to find a freaking shark to put it on.
I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?

I apparently have 3 use or lose vacation days that I have to burn by Dec 3.

9 day weekend starts today.

Some combo of cleaning and organizing my house, flying and who knows what else.
