LuckyMcSwervy 0 #4 December 1, 2013 turtlespeed ******This is graphic - make no mistake - The birth of an elephant . . . The baby isn't breathing . . . But Mom intervenes. Between the kicking and nuzzling . . . wow! WOW! HOW do they KNOW what to do? That was beautiful and amazing. I've seen some nature stuff on TV highlighting elephant mothers and babies. They scream and cry for each other when one is killed or they are separated. It's just heartbreaking. I've never seen an elephant birth, now I have, and it was an extraordinary one. Thanks for sharing. Always be kinder than you feel.
masterrig 1 #5 December 1, 2013 I have been fortunate in my lifetime to witness the birth of calves and foals. What takes place between mother and baby is amazing. I've heard too many times from people that animals are dumb but that is far from the truth. The relationship between mother and baby lasts long after birth. The mothers are very protective and caring, even after weaning. To me, it's a beautiful thing. Seeing the mother and baby elephant is not un-like other creatures. I've seen cows take-on another cow's calf because the mother refused to let the calf nurse. Chuck
