knjump 0 #1 December 11, 2013 If there were apartments next to Skydive Chicago, would you be interested? Apartments would be: New Air conditioned / heated Furnished Include water and electric. They would be less than a mile from the hangar.

wolfriverjoe 1,523 #3 December 11, 2013 turtlespeed no option for boobies . . . illegal poll. I think it's a serious question, which means it shouldn't be here in BF. Personally, I camp out when I go down there, but a nice apartment (it will have a full kitchen and bathroom, right?) at a little above hotel prices might be nice. I've stayed in the cabins they have, but they are little more than a roof above your head. Power, but no water or sanitation."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." LuckyMcSwervy 0 #6 December 12, 2013 Would there be on site management? Would there be limits on how many people can stay in a unit? Would noise complaints be taken seriously? How long until it goes Section 8? Always be kinder than you feel.

NWFlyer 2 #14 December 12, 2013 airtwardo I understand the 'attraction' of being close to the DZ...but that's rather high 'rent' for rural Ottawa IMO. I didn't really balk at it because the newer motels (like the Fairfield Inn) were running about that per night during Nationals, and most of the other hotels in Ottawa weren't much cheaper. Fairfield's perfectly nice and comes with a free breakfast with all the powdered eggs you can eat, but I wouldn't mind paying the same amount and having my own kitchen."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. When you have units that accommodate 2-3 or 3-4 people, your team can bunk together, be close to the DZ, party after jumping but make it back to the "house" safely (without the rest of the carpool having to wait, go back for you, or worry about whether you'll find a ride). Bulk rates for a weekly rental perhaps? $100/day means that if you rent for five nights, you're renting for a month. I get that you take the housekeeping into consideration when you have high turnover, so I probably wouldn't rent for one or two days. But the monthly, or perhaps a weekly rental would be nice. knjump 0 #18 December 12, 2013 There would be onsite management. There would be limits to how many can stay in a unit. Noise complaints would be taken seriously, written into the contract. We're looking for this to be a quiet place to rest and relax when you aren't jumping. There would be a limited stay, probably 9 month. It would be like a long term motel, not a residence. knjump 0 #19 December 12, 2013 Each apartment will have a kitchen and bathroom. Also, the newer cabins at SDC have water, I believe.
knjump 0 #20 December 12, 2013 The monthly rental rate would only be available for three or more months. There would be a discount for stays of a week or more. I've designed them to be winterized if necessary in the off season, but I would also be looking for non-skydiver customers in the off season.

My stay was in 09, before the new ones were built. Some of those trailers are pretty plush. Not exactly "tent city". Oh yes. Walk, bicycle and golf cart. I've been to Summerfest every year since 09. We camp all the way in the back for peace and quiet, so I've been through it a few times. It's a wonderful place, other than the water being a little stinky. And the older cabins were quite nice when I was there. Heat and electicity, maybe even A/C, but it was May so I didn't need it."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
