RIP Tom Laughlin http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=843650&ocid=vt_fbmsn Damn.A lot of people think Bruce Lee started the martial arts craze in the 70's, but I still give credit to Tom Laughlin for starting it, then Bruce Lee accelerated it. I know "Billy Jack" was what inspired me to sign up for my first lessons."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. ryoder 1,590 #4 December 16, 2013 One of my favorite scenes from BJ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ks2SXmI4Njc I always hated that tired old hostage standoff scene, so it was so nice seeing the bluff called. davjohns 1 #8 December 16, 2013 Rotten movie. Rotten martial arts. However, the real genius behind this movie was the production aspects. Before this, movies were released at one end of the country and had to make their way across the land. This was the one that was mass-produced and released everywhere at once. Changed the industry. And since Bruce Lee died before Billy Jack was re-released and finally successful, I don't think it started what Bruce Lee did. I think it much more likely that the re-release benefited from the Bruce Lee phenomenon that was accentuated by his death.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

You read the yesterday's press release too huh? As far as a 'Rotten Movie'...it was an anti-war indy made when Vietnam was front page every day - it had quite an impact at the time. STILL has a cult following so it must not have been TOO rotten..."Born Losers" - THAT was a rotten movie! lol ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
davjohns 1 #11 December 16, 2013 Actually, I have a copy and knew the story from long ago. Hapkido is one of the arts I practice. I did too...took an elective in college back in the 70's and the production & distribution aspects were discussed with praise. The storyline somewhat follows westerns of the late 50's, one in particular but I don't recall which. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
