I hope they're forgetting to mention some sort of sedation method like that yummy twilight option. I had that with both foot surgeries and loved talking to my podiatrist in the middle of the surgeries. I asked him if I could watch him saw and drill. Always be kinder than you feel. I had the twilight stuff when I had foot surgery. They had me counting backward...then the next thing I knew I was in the recovery room and the surgeon was asking me Q's while looking closely at my responses to see if I was going to remember the conversation this time. The foot surgery was a breeze. What sucked big time was trying to live flat on my back for a month because every time I stood up, my foot started puffing up like a football."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. Keeping off your feet is one of the hardest things to do physically and mentally, I think. SUCKS. I always (ok, twice, each foot) wake up in the middle and start talking like it's normal. I'm like, "Hey Dr., this is cool. I'm watching you but I can't feel anything. What's that sound? Is that the drill?". He's like, "No, Karen. That's the saw. Why don't you just put your head down and go back to sleep." Another time I woke up at the end of the surgery when he was putting in the stitches. No biggie. Those amnesia drugs are awesome in this setting. The doctor and I were talking about me talking at my first follow up the next day. I thought it was a riot (because he had to talk me into twilight when I wanted general) because he asked me if I wanted to know a secret. I told him sure. He told me I woke up in the middle of my surgery saying how much it hurts. He told me ok, he'd put more local in the block and back to sleep I went. I have absolutely no recollection of that at all and it's awesome. As far as the shorter toe thing, yeah, some of them were gnarly. Hope they're happy with their new tootsies! oldwomanc6 60 #9 January 17, 2014 Those twilight, and the amnesia-inducing drugs don't do a thing for me. I've had them for various procedures, and I remember virtually every moment, and the pain was full-force. I will say that they did make me care not a whit while it was happening. Over-all, they worked. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB
ryoder 1,590 #10 January 17, 2014 The really weird twilight experience is when you "wake up" to find your self sitting in a chair, in a room you've never seen before. davjohns 1 #11 January 17, 2014 I thought this was one step away from an SC thread... "If you like your toe; you can keep your toe."I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

If that toe is dragging in the corners, it'll get scraped off soon enough. Just don't put the knee out and lead with the foot a couple of times. Saves knee pucks.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..
