kelpdiver 2 #1 October 29, 2004 I've almost got my rig together, last part to acquire is an AAD. I'm trying to keep the total down, so an older model definitely is better, then I can get the -2 (or dare I say the Vigil) later. Nearly all ads just say Cypres Expert. DOM, service and battery dates. Does that imply 1 pin if not specified otherwise? The manual mentions spare parts included in the package. Is that normal to expect on the used? Important? I have a handle on fair pricing overall, but not so confident in vetting the individual unit. Anyone feel that it would be best not to get a fairly new Cypres 1 due to any reasons of obsolescence, either in design or company support? Thanks
mr2mk1g 10 #2 October 29, 2004 There's no reason not to buy a used cypres. It simply comes down to price and can you get a good deal on it bearing in mind battery and service costs. There are no obsolescence issues - the only real things the cypres 2 introduced were slightly difference battery cycles (has effect of reducing running costs slightly) and the 2 is water resistant (how often do you intend to dunk your rig?). Don't worry about spares – it ought to come ready to install. Your rigger will have cypres closing loop. If the batteries or cutter need replacing the add should state so. If your rig is cypres ready and you don’t want a cypres fanny pack you need not worry about spares. If it doesn't say it's most likely a 1-pin but an e-mail to confirm wouldn't go amiss. You'd be a pretty dumb seller if you listed a 2-pin and didn't point that out as they are significantly less common. I believe 2-pin cypres's can be converted to 1-pin by your rigger at a price. Airtec will continue to support Cypres 1 throughout their remaining life span.
sundevil777 102 #3 October 29, 2004 You might consider one that needs the service to be done (at appropriate cost, of course). You pay SSK directly for the service, seller ships it to Ohio. SSK should owe you the report of the unit's health. Anyway, it will leave in good condition - repair/replace/adjust whatever is needed. You then get a unit with no doubts. Don't buy it until you get the OK from SSK, so that if it got wet you wouldn't have a worthless unit, they won't fix that sort of stuff within the cost of the 4/8 year service. Your risk is only that service cost.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
