FreeFallFiend 0 #1 February 24, 2014 From Basejumper.com: QuoteBASE jumping at Camelback Mountain here in Arizona has recently come under attack from a local bureaucrat and one disgruntled neighbor. There will be a city council meeting this Thursday at 5PM discussing a potential ban. The meeting will be held at City County Chambers, 200 W Jefferson St. Phoenix, AZ. I know that most people that read this won't be able to make it but please sign this petition. BASE jumping at Camelback is under attack. There will be a City Council meeting on Thursday, Feb 27 at 5pm to discuss banning BASE in the park. We need to make sure this doesn't happen. Come to the City Council Chambers at 200 W Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ. If you can't make it, sign our online petition here. Repost and share this so we do not lose this gem. https://www.change.org/petitions/phoenix-parks-and-recreation-board-equal-rights-for-all-at-camelback-mountain-preserve-keep-the-park-open We need to band together on this. BASE is overwhelmingly supported in the community but could easily be taken away because of a loud and very small minority. Just a little background. This is a site that gets jumped a decent amount. There has never been a death and only two injuries ever required EMS. (No helicopters.) Most jumpers respect the site and most neighbors like us. The locals have and continue to go through great efforts with the residents, law enforcement, and politicians to keep BASE jumping in a good light here.Fiend I am about to take my last voyage, a great leap in the dark. - Thomas Hobbes. Boogers 0 #4 February 24, 2014 What is the complaint of this vocal minority? They can't complain that the aircraft makes too much noise, like that nut in Colorado...
mjosparky 4 #5 February 24, 2014 Quote yet at home we are pursued as "criminals". Do you think that might be because in many cases what they are doing is criminal? Case in point Jeb’s fiasco at the Empire State Building. I hope you are successful. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Probably complaining about the "WHACK" sounds the Base jumpers' parachutes make when deployed. Phillbo 11 #9 February 25, 2014 Where is the site? I'm assuming on the west end of the mountain. I never realized Camelback was a legal jump. I might attend the meeting just to see whats going on.

davjohns 1 #13 February 26, 2014 Done. Cited the US Declaration of Independence..."...to protect these rights, governments are instituted among men..." and made the point that there is no pressing public interest in restricting this freedom.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
