bigbearfng 18 #1 October 26, 2004 I know this has been mentioned before... I've been rolling the crap out of the nose, then I would get pretty bad hunting and off heading openings-but the opening force was consistently decent. Packing it to eliminate the off heading hunting-then it would open "brisk" and once in awhile give a "little" smack. I talked to PD, and they sent out a new slider. I've had a chance to put a few jumps on it now and it's night and day. I'm just stuffing the nose in a bit, and you'd 'bout think it was a Spectre opening; with minimal hunting/off heading. (And yes, I'd tried a lot of advice on flying the opening , feet together, etc. to counter the off headings.) Mine is a 190 DOM97, that originally had a 23X31; the new slider is 26X31. Anyway-figured I'd post this for anyone doing a search on the subject to find-just talk to PD and spend the $ for their recommendation on a new slider size!!!! diablopilot 2 #2 October 26, 2004 Just a note for people out there, make sure you use the manufactures suggested size, don't just guess and slap a bigger slider on hoping it will fix the problem. A larger slider can somthings make the openings of a canopy HARDER.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. skydivingdutch 0 #3 October 26, 2004 My sabre never gives me problems. I dont roll the nose at all, but I push it all the way in to the packjob, and I keep the slider well quartered. http://dropman.com
Stumpy 284 #4 October 26, 2004 I agree - when i first got mine i had been a bit scared by the "horror stories so i was rolling and tucking and doing all sorts of funky stuff, but now i just push the nose into the packjob and am very careful with the slider and pull it out the front a little bit so now i get good consistent openings. If i really wanted to slow it down more, i think the only thing i would contemplate is a pocket slider. Glad its working for you too Never try to eat more than you can lift
slotperfect 7 #5 October 26, 2004 QuoteI know this has been mentioned before... Then why not do a forum search to find the answers you need? Hard openings on a Sabre have been covered numerous times before. It's a dead horse subject in the forums.Arrive Safely John
