Amazon 7 #1 June 6, 2014 Right now at 8:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time.... 70 years ago.... a continent and an ocean away... an epic battle was beginning in France with thousands of our young men in a desperate struggle for freedom for millions living under a dark tyranny. Most of those young men have now joined their brothers in arms that were lost that day with only a very few of them remaining with us. Honor them and what they accomplished that day. Thank you for all you did.
BillyVance 35 #2 June 6, 2014 Amen. War is hell, but those soldiers faced death squarely in the eyes and did what they were trained to, and then some. My grandfather served in the Army Air Corps on the other side of the world, in the Pacific theater. But sadly I know very little about his experiences, well virtually nothing. He died 6 years before I was born and dad never really said much about him. Krip 2 #3 June 6, 2014 Hi AJ It was only over the last couple of yrs did I connect the dots that I was born just a few weeks before the 3rd anniversary of the invasion. Now every B day I think of the greatest generation, the troops and their families and the Invasion of Normandy and all the things they went through just to get to that point in the war. He enlisted in the summer of 1941 and by this time in 1944 he was with the rest of the 1st Marine Div resting and refitting after New Britain, preparing for the Battle of Peleliu. H was just 20 years old when he survived making it onto the casualty list that so many of his brothers did.
