How long before I need to repack my main?

Recommended Posts

Yes, rubber bands rot rapidly when exposed to bare brass grommets, which is why most modern rigs use nickel-plated brass grommets on deployment bags.

Stainless steel grommets are limited to the #0 stainless steel grommets used on container flaps and the #8-sized stainless steel grommets used on main sliders.

Since my post a few riggers have PMed me and said that I am not correct and that there are reasons not to trust a main as long as you would trust a reserve.

Well.... I'd listen to them over me.

But to be fair, I did say, "*I* would trust a main for that as well" and "*I personally*, would not. But then again, I am not jumping it."

Again, listen to the riggers over me.

Ah, something for me. (OK, I should/could have asked my rigger, but anyway... :-)
I thought the nickel-plated grommets were steel. B|

BTW & anyway, I'll get my new Teardrop in a few weeks and looking forward to it. Should be with all the latest bells and whistles; including "modern" grommets.

should of gotten a proper rig like a micron then; or even a mirage, since it has the "makes panties drop"-option that is included with all of them.. :P

I would love to... But I spent all of $1200 on my first rig. I priced a UPT container because I was having trouble finding something my size (I'm not exactly small...), $3500+ was a little pricey for a newbie... (And if your gonna buy new, might as well get all of the options B| )

funny you mention that, i gave away a "30% off base-price and 25% off options"-voucher not too long ago.. basically for free, only thing i've requested was boobie-pictures of your GF, the first guy with boobies of the internet actually won!

makes it more like 2grand then. still, sexiest rig IN THE WORLD; IMHO tough! :P

Well, I'm not that much into rig bashing... IMHO the Teardrop is - at least in Germany - the one that offers best value for money. The new Viper comes with all the bells and whistles one likes to have.
The Micron looks nice indeed. I had an eye on the Microns of the female Norway FS4 team in 2006 here and found them (the RIGS!) really stylish. But apart from the "low-force" 3-ring system and the magnetic riser covers I don't see much that's really different. And the riser cover thingy is debatable, if you browse several forums. Anyway, I see it the way Emporer FW II (Der Alte Fritz) put it: Jeder soll nach seiner Façon selig werden. B|
