mrubin 0 #1 June 18, 2014 I'm painting my brick fireplace white to give it a new look. The part I'm having trouble figuring out is whether or not to paint the section of wall right behind the brick (with an arrow pointing to it). So give me your opinion. mrubin 0 #3 June 18, 2014 I've never done much work with any photoshopping software so I'm not sure how good of a job I could do. Plus I don't have anything other than Microsoft paint to work with on my computer."I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
oldwomanc6 60 #4 June 18, 2014 I wouldn't paint it white. I would either leave it the same color as above the mantle (like it is now) or paint it the same color as the wall. Either way, paint is cheap, and easy to change if you decide you don't like it. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB

Should I paint that section or leave it as is? I'd paint the arrowed section white. I think that wall can handle a "heavy" looking fireplace bottom since the mantle looks wide. If you don't like it, any chance you still have paint left from when the other walls were painted? So you can go back to the original color? BTW, it looks nice. I like the colors and the crown. Looks like my bedroom. Always be kinder than you feel.
Nataly 38 #6 June 18, 2014 Paint that bit white, but leave the bricks alone - they are gorgeous! sfzombie13 324 #7 June 18, 2014 you can use paint to select a rectangle over the part to be painted and fill it in with color. it is actually pretty easy. i would leave them as they are, however._________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
skymama 37 #8 June 19, 2014 The easiest thing to do would be to paint the brick and leave the wall alone and then live with it a few days to see if you like it that way. If you don't like it, then paint the wall. If you don't like it after you paint the wall you should sell your house, because, you're screwed.
