cvfd1399 0 #1 October 19, 2004 Hey I just received one to play with on windy days, and I am having trouble figuring out how the diaper stows start out. I have it laid out apex and risers in tension, diaper on the floor, panels(gores whatever) flaked, and ready to go. The diaper has 4 grommets at each corner, and 10 rubber bands on each side. How do you start the stows? are there supposed to be rubber bands on 2 opposing grommets? The makers site(National) showed how to do the basics, but did not discuss proper flaking, and how to use the diaper at all. mark 107 #2 October 19, 2004 You're right: rubber bands larks-headed on two of the grommets. Pleat/flake in the normal manner. Fold the canopy in "fifths." Fold the skirt up (diaper folded in half). cvfd1399 0 #3 October 19, 2004 It hit me in the face after playing with it I realized that you fold the bottom of the diaper towards the apex, and wamm it all came together. The stows are intersecting in realtion to to the canopy it goes right and left. The one I saw this weekend was parallel with the canopy. The combo of not having rubber bands in the top grommets and me thinking the stows run apex to skirt was messing me all up. Thanks. It has no risers. Some risers and a rig to put it in would be nice so you can wear it while sitting on a skateboard, or a piece of cardboard while sliding thorough the fields. Hook it up to three ring risers, add a d bag and a throw out PC, flake it, s fold it into the d bag, stow the lines as normal with some extra rubber bands and put it in your skydiving rig. (Forget the diaper) Mine went in to my Reflex in place of my Sabre 170. Besides if you cut it away you're back to a square! I've been looking for a 28' for awhile for less than skydiver prices. Found it on ebay for $60. All the mods in great condition. Opens fast but soft. It amazing to have a quiet ride to the ground ..... and have to start final approach at opening. Edit to add.... I think with my dry weight at 255lbs I would be comming down like a rock under a 26 footer lol. I would still like risers and a rig for it even if it is not airworthy, just to have a way to wear it. You can get a military harness off of ebay for a few bucks. But be carefull if your thinking about parasailing it. First I doubt it will lift off other that just by drag. Second it's a good way to kill youself. Search for parasailing threads. Play with it on the ground. We had a 100' cargo canopy that we managed to get inflated. I was manning the apex deflation line tied to the TRACTOR.I'm old for my age.
