WrongWay 0 #1 October 19, 2004 The biggest downside to intentional water landings at BD is getting your canopy all wet and muddy. So now my mojo is dry, but it has little bits of dirt/sand on it that worry me. How can I safely clean this stuff off without completely wearing the shit out of my canopy? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails. diablopilot 2 #2 October 19, 2004 Jump it. Seriously. It's probably going to be the best way to get all the particulate matter off...---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
WrongWay 0 #3 October 19, 2004 That's not a bad idea......but wouldn't packing a canopy with dirt/sand on it cause friction and wear? Wrong Way D #27371 Mal Manera Rodriguez Cajun Chicken Ø Hellfish #451 The wiser wolf prevails.
diablopilot 2 #4 October 19, 2004 It's probably not gonna make a hill o' beans difference for the one pack job. If you had mud all over the canopy every time, well then the canopiy's life span might be shorter than normal. if you were really worried about it, hosing it off with fresh water is an option, but probably more of a waist of time than just packing and jumping.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. slotperfect 7 #5 October 19, 2004 If it's just loose sand dried onto the fabric, inflate the canopy with a fan one cell at a time, giving it a gentle shake from the front each time. Then hang it up by the tail and let the sand inside fall out of the nose. Then pack it and jump it!Arrive Safely John

masterrig 1 #7 October 19, 2004 If, the dirt leaves small 'stains', use clean cloths and cold clear water to lightly wipe the stains off. Daub the stains with a wet cloth then, lightly swipe the stains with a clean dry cloth. The previously mentioned methods work great. Chuck
The111 1 #8 October 19, 2004 I don't know anything, but when I recovered my cutaway canopy from a slightly murky swamp, I took it home and swished it around in a bathtub full of cold water, and repeated until the water came off clean. Then I hung it up to dry. The downside? The canopy was finally getting easy to pack, and now it is all crispy again!!! www.WingsuitPhotos.com
masterrig 1 #9 October 19, 2004 I don't believe, the cold, clean water hurt anything. It's a helluva lot better than leaving the swamp muck in it. Chuck
