FlyingRhenquest 1 #1 July 24, 2014 Hey guys! If you do skydiving for a living -- coach, TI, pro swooper, whatever, can you write beer off on your taxes? I'd think you could file it under "marketing expenses." Still looking for a way to write beer off on my taxes... Edit: Of course if you're really creative you can expense it!I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here? DougH 270 #2 July 24, 2014 You can write-off anything. When I buy stuff (sometimes including beer) to make food for DZ cook outs I expense it as group meal which are 100% deductible. One of the requirements is that such spending is available to all employees (in other words not a c-suite executive brunch at the country club), and is consumed on site during company business, by three or more employees. The deduction is intended for companies that are catering a lunch for a company celebration, or a training. I think buying beer for the dz, to be consumed at the dz, is in the spirit of the deduction. But I say that with my CPA hat off and locked in my desk at work!! Keep the receipts and write down who consumed, the business purposes, etc. You could argue that chatting up the hot waitress about skydiving makes that meal a business meal, subject to a 50% deduction. The IRS is free to argue otherwise under audit. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
JohnMitchell 16 #3 July 24, 2014 All my repacks, packing and licenses, Class 3 medical, mileage to the DZ is all tax deductible, I know. If I could write off beer, I'd be a multi-millionaire.
BIGUN 1,488 #4 July 26, 2014 It goes in the "Meals & Entertainment" line item of your books. For expenses that cost less than $75, a journal entry in your appointment book with the amount, location, names and business discussion of those you entertained is sufficient.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
