riggerrob 643 #1 August 10, 2014 Our hypothetical hero is a Canadian native just going about his daily business, clubbing baby seals on ice floes. An Antonov 2 lands on his ice-flow, mangling it's lower left wing in the process. A pair of Russians leap from the wreckage, one of them brandishing an AK-47. Our hero only has one round in his Lee-as field rifle. A polar bear arrives to investigate. What does our hero do next?
quade 4 #2 August 10, 2014 Why are you calling this person a hero? He's simply a protagonist. In any case, he does nothing. He's the indigenous person. the Russians are going to freak the fuck out at the sight of the polar bear. Possibly attempting to shoot it, but in any case, the Russians are not going to give a fuck about the protagonist as long as the polar bear is a threat. While the Russians are attempting to kill a polar bear, our protagonist simply walks away.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #4 August 10, 2014 riggerrobNext question: is an AK-47 powerful enough to stop a polar bear? Depends on where it hits and how many hits it takes. Pretty sure though. Might not stop it instantly. One or two rounds might bounce off its skull. But put enough holes in it and it will die.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

The 7.62 x 39 isn't a very big or powerful cartridge, but on full auto, with a full magazine, you could do enough damage to kill it... eventually. The real question is whether or not it would die before it kills you. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." So he tells the Russians: "Look here, if you kill that polar bear so it's not a threat to us all, then I'll give you guys a ride back to land in my boat." And they all lived happily ever after. Why do we always have to presume that everyone is trying to kill everyone else? How about a little cooperative spirit now and then.
