Zep 0 #1 August 25, 2014 Yea I know it's science fantasy but they could at least research the skydiving scene a little. We all know the US services are tough (cough cough) but the Marines or whatever branch the Skydivers were, 30,000 feet wearing only fatigues in an unpressurized C130. At least they had the sense to use oxygen. How do we know it was unpressurized at 30,000 ft, cause they didn't freeze to death and when the tailgate went down it didn't fill with mist. Sorry but that scene ruined it for me. Gone fishing

I'm sure they advised the director but in the end the director decides on "the look" of the scene, reality be damned. Anyway, it showed skydiving in a positive light and my friends got some nice fat paychecks.

Hey, there was one movie that had documentary-like accuracy in its depiction of skydiving of that era: "Fandango" "There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. I've only seen the movie once but my impression was that that(exit) scene was the only real skydiving scene and the rest were cgi.Your rights end where my feelings begin. You do realize no animal could ever be that large; right? (Because; physics.) Once you understand that, the skydiving is the least inaccurate thing to ruin the film.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #15 August 25, 2014 Zep There you go bringing common sense into it. You must really be the life and soul of a party. Your not an Engineer or work in IT by any chance? I can be logical or fanciful; either separately or together. I love a good fantasy story, that said, it has to be consistent within its own fictional universe. The problem I have with this Godzilla is they've made him far too large to be consistent with any reality. So, place a mythical 400 foot tall monster on some fantasy planet we've never heard of before and I have no problems with it because who is to say what the physics of that world are, but put him on Earth and I have all sorts of issues. Bigger, in this case, is not better. In fact, it's less good because something as big as this particular incarnation of Godzilla is too far removed from anything and simply could not exist, therefore have no terror I can associate with it. The T-rex in "Jurassic Park" and the original Godzilla (which was basically a poorly designed T-rex, but at least within one order of magnitude of possible) were MUCH better monsters.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

A 50 foot tall land animal is pretty close to the limit of what is possible for a biped, but almost certainly not a gorgeous woman wrapped in sheets, but still, it's closer to reality than the 2014 Godzilla.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Zep 0 #21 August 26, 2014 normiss I don't think you can pressurize a Skyvan. Or the skyliner. God I hate that bloody plane, I've had more accidents and cut hands exiting that thing than any other aircraft. I remember jumping several times at around 16,000 from a Caribou back in the 80's but I can't remember if it was pressurized. Gone fishing
