kallend 2,150 #51 October 8, 2014 quadeWords can have many meanings. Drone used to mean a worker bee. Nope. Drone is a male bee that doesn't make honey and whose only role is to fertilize the queen. Worker bees are all females. Hence the Drones' Club in the Jeeves stories by P.G. Wodehouse was a club for idle rich men.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. kallend 2,150 #53 October 8, 2014 PeteWHa ha. I have a dji phantom 2 with fpv and a gopro 3. I always correct people and tell them its just a quad copter with a camera. One guy was chatting to me while I was flying. Then he said I bet you could spy on the neighbours. So I brought it down lower so he could hear it. I also pointed out the flashing lights on each arm. I said I would have to be about 10-15' away to spy. I rather like THIS one.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. JWest 0 #54 October 11, 2014 I skimmed through this but didn't see the correct answer anywhere. I was in the military. Drones are something that can fly themselves. aka basically autopilot. Remote control helicopters are not drones. They are remote control.

That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
Equilibrium 0 #57 October 15, 2014 Elisha I think you air/military industry (pilots and (ex-)military) can help me out with this and someone may have posted before. It seems the media has redefined any flying remote control object a drone, which just bugs the crap out of me. Since when is a toy helicopter (yes, quadcopters too) a drone? I'm hoping this doesn't get political, but I know that is an easy possibility with this crwod. Take your pick :P .... drone 1 (drn) n. 1. A male bee, especially a honeybee, that is characteristically stingless, performs no work, and produces no honey. Its only function is to mate with the queen bee. 2. An idle person who lives off others; a loafer. 3. A person who does tedious or menial work; a drudge: "undervalued drones who labored in obscurity" (Caroline Bates). 4. A pilotless aircraft operated by remote control. "Be grateful for every second of every day that you get to spend with the people you love. Life is so very precious"
