JohnMitchell 16 #1 April 18, 2013 I enjoyed it. Great look at the hideous brutality of slavery. Interesting that I hadn't considered the black-on-black treachery that occurred. Some of the movie was a little tarted up in typical Tarantino fashion (his cameo sucked balls, I thought) but still an excellent flick.

jty2007 0 #3 April 18, 2013 Yes, sir. Saw it twice in the theaters and twice since it's been out on Tuesday! I'm a Tarantino fan but have been huge fans of his last three.
Nataly 38 #4 April 18, 2013 I am a huge fan, but to me what slightly ruins his genius is that he doesn't know when to quit... His cameos are cute, but he gave himself too much of a role this time... I kept thinking the movie was ending - but no, it kept going... I think this happened about 3 times... Explosions are not as impressive if you have them again and again and again... I think it would have been sublimely superb with *just* a little less... Still an awesome film."There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
MikeJD 0 #5 April 18, 2013 Not even released over here for another month - although I guess I could order an imported copy if I was impatient enough. What's that all about, though? I thought (apparently naively) that the days of staged releases in different regions were behind us.

Quote I kept thinking the movie was ending - but no, it kept going... I think this happened about 3 times... You know, I recall thinking the same thing. And the horse tricks at the end? Is that the Western version of Tokyo Drift?
Opie 0 #8 April 18, 2013 I saw it in the theater and it's blood & guts good Tarantino but I wouldn't go out and buy it.
ryoder 1,590 #9 November 27, 2014 I just streamed it off iTunes last night. Man, QT must have gotten a hell of a deal on 55gal drums of imitation blood! Anyone else notice that scene with DiCaprio that was an unscripted accident and really was his blood? The scene with the riders and bags over their heads just cracked me up because it looked like something out of "Blazing Saddles": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EevoRUakA88 "There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. JohnMitchell 16 #12 November 27, 2014 ryoder The scene with the riders and bags over their heads just cracked me up because it looked like something out of "Blazing Saddles": I had forgotten that part. The juxtaposition of their humor (showing their basic humanity) and their ability to be viciously violent makes the movie so much more effective. You realize the people who actually did all this weren't monsters, but regular people living in monsterous times.
