For the easy/question answer, you wouldn't leave your sheets slack, it's not the wind, and there's no reason to try to get your sailboat to list. quade 4 #4 November 29, 2014 I'm nearly certain you are not seeing what you believe you're seeing. The important thing to realize when looking at satellite photos sometimes they aren't taken from directly over the surface, but instead at a slight oblique angle. What I believe you're seeing are not the booms, but the masts. Just so we're on the same page, take a look at some of the telephone poles on shore.
