Rick 67 #26 December 8, 2014 BillyVance ******Then why did we just buy a new DVD player? One of our streamers went tango-uniform. No problem, the DVD player works as a streamer. Now some televisions have those same capabilities. Just like you, I'm seeing a lot of overlap in technology. Meanwhile, DirectTV offers me 900 channels, of which 890 are all crap. We just got a new 26" flat screen TV for the bedroom TV cabinet shelf. Had a 19" that was too small for the space, with a blu-ray/DVD player with wifi streaming apps above it. Now the 26" TV has those streaming apps built-in. I haven't gotten that far into that stuff yet, but I did find over 70 digital channels in addition to the 60 channel basic cable package we have. Too bad only about 6 or 7 of those are worth watching... yeah we started with the googletv, then got a netgear and then roku now the newest tv is "smart" and has all the interwebby shit already installed gotta love newfangled technology now I just have to order a fire stick for the rvYou can't be drunk all day if you don't start early! normiss 895 #27 December 8, 2014 TV, DVD (both for that matter), Chromecast (sucks), and now the Firestick. All have different streaming sources though, plus with all the tv's we have and the camper with 2 tv's we wanted options. At some point I hope to wean Andrea off of cable and to internet/streaming tv only. HA! Ok maybe some OTA as well.
JohnMitchell 16 #28 December 8, 2014 Of course you remember TV and antennas and great shows with real stars in them. Now it's all infomercials and reality TV.
normiss 895 #29 December 9, 2014 I have a list of stuff to ask my doctor about. Specifically all the ones that make the claim they don't yet understand how the drug works. WTD?

kallend 2,148 #31 December 9, 2014 justme12001out of curiosity, in what ways is it better than Roku? I have a Roku 2 and a Roku stick, and have had no real troubles with either. I haven't really used any other kind of streaming device, other than my blue ray player that does netflix and pandora. Given that my Roku is about 2 years old... I find the Amazon stick user interface much better, and the streaming seems faster (have not done a truly quantitative comparison of that)....
