dzdiva 7 #2 January 12, 2015 RIPI had the pleasure of meeting Col. Charles Mcgee of the Tuskegee Airmen at an airshow a few years back. I shook his hand and thanked him for his service. What an awesome guy! "It's not just a daydream if you choose to make it your life..."
masterrig 1 #3 January 12, 2015 Dang! What a great experience. All they went through and still fought for our country. I've read books about them and everything else I could find. True, American heroes. Chuck
sfzombie13 324 #4 January 12, 2015 that reminds me of the time we deployed back in '01. we had a formation and an old d-day paratrooper came to see us off. i was talking to him afterward, and we were standing there when one guy asked him how many jumps he had, after airborne school. he said 3, sicily, holland, and normandy. talk about impressive, wow._________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
masterrig 1 #5 January 12, 2015 You bet! I worked for a glider club in the panhandle and one of their members flew gliders in WW-II. He was part of the Normandy Invasion. When he landed, he said he had to keep his feet up because the floor of the wooden glider peeled-off on landing. I really believe what has been said of that generation of Americans... they were the best generation. Chuck
