masterrig 1 #26 October 11, 2004 Good job! Thanks for your in-put! I recieved an e-mail from a man in Germany, who was the highest bidder on a rig that was on e-bay. He sent the bank check and is still waiting for the rig. That, was over six months ago. Can't find any sign of the 'seller'. You really have to be careful. mr2mk1g 10 #27 October 12, 2004 It was colossus' catch - there's really no way to tell this kind of thing is a fraud unless you just happen to notice as colossus has done here. Lucky catch by an eagle eye. Answer is to ALWAYS use some kind of intermediary - we have them built in to the fabric of our sport, they're called Lofts. Make use of them! masterrig 1 #28 October 12, 2004 Here in the U.S., the FAA did-away with the term 'Loft', in the late 1980's - early 1990's and has not granted that status, since. So then, a rigger, would be a good intermediary Chuck
GeordieSkydiver 0 #29 October 12, 2004 I just bought this rig on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7104721512&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT I then read this post and had a minor panic attack. It checks out though, so far. I've tracked it on UPS and its on its way, so it wasn't a fraudulent auction. The guy seemed really straight up anyway, so I wasn't panicking. Lee I'd hate to add to your anxiety, but you're not totally in the clear. There have been cases where somebody bought something off Ebay, and the seller sent something slightly different... Wait until you actually receive the shipment and verify it is what you expected... Thanks for the comments. I'll let you all know the result when the rig arrives on Thursday.
