skymama 37 #26 June 23, 2015 In reports that I've read, Costco gets high ratings in the quality and value of their jewelry. The amount that you're spending is quite impressive. Good luck with your shopping and the proposal. JohnnyMarko 1 #27 June 23, 2015 On a slightly darker note.... Dude and girlfriend show up to my old DZ one day. Girl is doing a tandem, boyfriend is going on as observer. He proposed on jump run, ring and all...she said no...she jumped...she landed...it was awkward

Good luck with your shopping and the proposal. Let us know if she says yes! She asked me, thus maintaining the total element of surprise on me. Of course I said yes., and she also suggested simple golden bands for both of us. It's not often someone gets the chance to be a future ex Mrs Lalor. I think ll just go with the having one custom built. Thanks for all of the wonderful advice.

But one question - and maybe I'm not understanding your intent here; if she suggested simple gold bands, isn't it going against her specific requests to go out and drop $5K on an engagement ring? Seems to me (only based on what you've relayed here, so maybe there's more to the story) she's made it pretty clear what she wants so it seems like you're imposing your idea of what she should want on her."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. I think she would love to have a nice diamond ring but would be equally thrilled with simple bands. I think shes afraid of appearing a gold digger. The one plus for cosco is the full cash refund Forever.

NovaTTT 2 #33 June 24, 2015 Congrats! I found that buying a diamond and then having it set was not only less expensive, but better quality IMO. I bought from a diamond wholesaler (who made it a very easy process, including shipping prospective stones to me for examination) and my jeweler was happy to set it in a gold ring. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in particulars. Good luck."Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity."
