When you go in the water... you are no longer really at the top of the food chain.

I grew up swimming in the waters of Florida... We knew there was an old sow just downstream from the spring.. but we still went swimming..

Swimming with snappers.... you can't always see em... but if they exist in the area you can bet they are looking for a meal.

Snappers have been in Florida a hell of a lot longer than humans... be very careful where you swim because you look yummy to them

Right? I used to stay at the Hilton Marina in Ft. Lauderdale a couple of times a year. It's surrounded by yacht decks. In the evening, we'd go to the little Tiki Bar they have between the pool and the decks. I was Florida hot and when I met up with some friends at the bar, I told them to give me a few minutes cause I was gonna jump in the water and cool off.

Local native grabs my arm and says, "No, you're not!"
Why?
"Because right over there a lady decided to cool her feet in the water off the deck and was snatched under and gone."
Okie dokie then; guess its Miller time.

Now, let's talk about where we stand on the food chain up in your parts - especially in the land of bear called, Montana. :)

Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

BTW, when you go on land or in the air, you're also not at the top of the food chain. We have this illusion we are because we eat cows, but any human with nothing but his hands is subject to being eaten by any one of a number of actual top predators.

I am a firm believer in providing any large predator with a very bad headache with my Redhawk should the need arise... but I also carry bear spray... and yes we do have griz here in WA... I have seen them a few times.. even was stalked by one for about a mile....

I love SCUBA in the ocean too.... and I have a .223 bang stick should any large predatory fish with to size me up as a meal. There are some large great whites along the coast... and if you decide to surf or play in the ocean.... just know..... they are there. Biggest one I ever saw was when we were anchored up on a 41' Hans Christian cutter we were taking down to Mexico for a friend..... just off the Farrallons in CA.... taking a BIG elephant seal for a meal.

D'oh! That would suck :|[:/] I mean, she was probably lucky, all things considered, but yeah... Shitty day for that lady...

Amazon my dear,

Ya gotta help me on this one. I mean, you as shark or gator bait is a visual I just can't get my head around.:S:S

What can I say... I do not let a wee bit of danger skeer me out of the water... BUT I do go prepared.. and they better watch out;)

Not a fan of shark meat.. but deep fried snapper is yummy stuff. I have a couple pounds in the freezer that I acquired from Florida that I need to cook up soon... :)
