unfeomateo 1 #1 September 21, 2004 What do you do if you cant find any used gear. I am 5'6 and am looking for something that is not real old and can hold a 150 main and reserve. Should I wait for something to come along? But who knows how long that will be. Or should I just buy a new container? The main question here is, is it worth buying new or is it better to wait for used? And if anyone knows of anything that would fit me that I missed please let me know. Ive been looking like crazy, everything is sold.
koz2000 1 #2 September 21, 2004 If you're going to buy something new, make it the container. Since it's made to fit you, it's in your color preference, and you can get it how you want. Next thing I'd buy new is the reserve. D______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. slotperfect 7 #9 September 21, 2004 That is a very common container size. You should be able to find plenty of options. DZ.com classifieds, eBay (search for "skydiving"), and any of the bigger gear dealers have a large selection on their websites. If you give me some more specifics, I will help keep an eye out for you. I surf the classifieds nearly every day.Arrive Safely John

peregrinerose 0 #13 September 21, 2004 Have you talked to the folks at your dropzone? Mine has already found several that would work for me. And I'm a weirder build than you... 5'3, 140lbs. Want a 170 main in a racer container. So I'm short, stout, and picky. But I've still been offered several Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

There are lots of possible combos out there depending on your wallet and your progression. freakflyer9999 1 #16 September 21, 2004 There is a sticky thread at the top of the Gear and Rigging forum that lists manufacturers and their DZ.com contact. Many of the manufacturers have used gear for sale. Give them a try. Also don't rule out having a rig modified to fit you. I recently purchased a used Vector that was the right size to fit my canopies, but I needed the harness replaced. Relative Workshop gave me a really quick turnaround (< 10 days) on replacing the harness. Be sure to send them your measurements just like you were ordering a new container. Blue Skies & Good Luck looking.
PhreeZone 20 #17 September 21, 2004 Ask them to mark their ads as sold then. Or forward the emails confirming it to me and I'll remove them from the classifieds. Rigs are expensive. You can plan on spending at least $2300 to get something like you want sicne you want something newer. $3000+ with a Cypres is'nt to hard to imagine at all.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
wmw999 2,587 #18 September 21, 2004 I've seen this system, and it should fit you fine. The main needs to be relined, but the rest of it is in really good shape. MarkM 0 #21 September 24, 2004 You know, given that you're jumping a 150 I don't see why you can't buy new for the container. Figure it'll be awhile before you downsize to a 135 and it'll be a long time before you go off of that. You could have a container made for a 150/135 main and it'll probably last you awhile. I guess it depends on what WL you're at with the 150 though. I'm 5'6" and that's the route I went with my Mirage M3. I have a 150 main/150 reserve in it now and it'll take a 130 main later on. I think us smaller people can get away with buying new on our first containers because we can't downsize as much.
