ryoder 1,590 #1 March 21, 2016 This must be a joke, but Bloomberg is carrying it: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-03-21/this-aerospace-company-wants-to-bring-supersonic-civilian-travel-back First problem: Who the hell would use the name "Boom" in trying to bring back civilian supersonic flight? Second problem; There is already a company with that name: http://www.boomtechnologyinc.com/ BTW Could someone who hasn't been banned from Kimmies FB page please post this there?"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. BIGUN 1,443 #2 March 21, 2016 Concurrently: http://www.wired.com/2016/03/nasa-thinks-can-make-supersonic-jet-no-boom/Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
wolfriverjoe 1,523 #3 March 21, 2016 He sounds serious. I don't think he understands what he's getting into, but he sounds serious. Quote ...blustery Silicon Valley types often underestimate how tough it is to build aerospace hardware that tests the bounds of physics. No kidding. Supersonic flight isn't really easy (actually it's the trans-sonic part that gets weird). There's tons of research out there, but even with modern computer simulations, designing a whole new plane is not going to be a trivial task. Look at what they went through at Edwards in the 50s & 60s (and particularly how many crashed) to get an idea of how hard supersonic is."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
