mnealtx 0 #1 September 15, 2004 Hi gang, I've been surfing various sites today feeding my gear lust, and I got wondering? For an alti like the Neptune that can be audible or wrist mount... is the audible, well, audible in freefall if it's on the wrist? Also, is there something like an earphone jack where you could (conceivably) run an earphone through the sleeve of your jumpsuit to the alti? Inquiring minds want to know!Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 September 15, 2004 You are not going to hear the audible tones of a Neptune if you wear it on your wrist as an alti.
adamjenner 0 #3 September 15, 2004 the neptune works as an audible when it's placed on/in your helmet. on the wrist it acts as a digital alti!!! it also records your jumps and jump information (FF time, altitude, open alti. etc) they're really nice though. a jumper at our DZ bought one and he uses it as an alti on his wrist and is very pleased with it. dragon2 2 #4 September 15, 2004 Not in regular freefall, but with a BirdMan suit, I can sort of hear mine (if I listen hard). Also the new canopy alarms are audible when under canopy (well, duh ). ciel bleu, Saskia

piisfish 140 #7 September 15, 2004 wouldn't it be a nice feature if it had like a bluetooth loudspeaker you could put in the helmet ??scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
Nightingale 0 #8 September 15, 2004 I've got a neptune on my wrist and a pro-track in my helmet. I like the neptune better as a visual alti than the digitude I'd been using, and I like both much better than the analog alti galaxy I'd had before that. I grew up in the age of digital watches, so reading a digital readout is easier for me.

Heh, I've heard my Neptune on a couple of BirdMan flights. It's faint, but it's there. Kinda spooked me the first time since it didn't sound anything like my ProTrack.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
mnealtx 0 #10 September 16, 2004 That WOULD be cool, and was sort of what I was wondering, if there was an earphone jack where you could, so to speak, "remote" the speaker. I like the idea of a multi function instrument - too bad there's no way to USE both the visual and audible both. Oh well, I started out with an analog alti and no audible, so I don't have problems with having a digital alti and no audible. I just wanted to have my cake and eat it too. Thanks for the responses, everyone!Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
