piisfish 140 #1 June 9, 2016 Last week the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds crash, today 2 planes of the Swiss display team collided. 1 ejected and the other one landed with a damaged F-5. Also a SU27 of the Russian Knights crashed and the pilot was killed. These guys are/were all part of the best pilots around. If it can happen to them... quade 4 #2 June 9, 2016 Even the very best can have problems they didn't create, yet have to deal with. Those sorts of things tend to happen at random intervals. Random intervals means there will be streaks of events and non-events. I'd worry more about the world if accidents happened like clockwork.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Guest #3 June 10, 2016 Here is some old news. The political left in Switzerland is pushing hard to do away with the military altogether, starting with the Schweizer Luftwaffe This mishap will not help things mh . riggerrob 643 #4 June 12, 2016 What type of ejection seat did that Swiss pilot use? What type of parachute was he wearing? I assume that he wore a 28 foot diameter C9 packed into a B-12 or BA-22 container.
theonlyski 8 #5 June 13, 2016 Unfortunately when you're flying at the razors edge of either your or the aircraft's abilities, an engine burping could be catastrophic. Same thing with doing just about anything. Can I take off and climb out at a very slow airspeed in a twin? Yep... But if one goes or anything happens, I may not even have time to realize that shit is hitting the fan before it's over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr6iLRIN234&feature=youtu.be&t=28m13s Still a very sad time for the performance teams, I'm actually a little surprised that I haven't seen a safety stand down until they can figure out what's going on (though I am fairly sure that each incident is a different cause)."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
