skydiverek 63 #1 August 26, 2004 Under what TSO are Tandem Reserves tested? Considering that a tandem pair can weigh over 400lbs and go over 200mph (tumbling with no drouge), I quess there must be a seperate category from C23d. So what are the speed and weight limits for tandem reserves (and harnesses for that matter). And what is this TSO called? Thanks!
mjosparky 4 #2 August 26, 2004 Tandem rigs and their reserve canopies are tested to TSO-C23d and to the requirements called for in AS8015 Rev. B. The requirements for dual harness, tandem, system are different from a single harness rig. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

matthewcline 0 #4 August 28, 2004 TSO 23-c is the test standard. Having been on board the CASA when Ted Strong sends his tandem reseves out for a test is impressive. 600 lbs at 200 kts at 500 ft! They opened evry time on heading and with out damage. (perks of being in the military)An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! TSO-C23d requires testing to the standards of 8015-B and is the first TSO to address testing of tandems. It calls for a weight of not less then 480 lb. and a speed not less then 210 KEAS. How long ago were these test done? SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
