87SupraT 0 #1 August 17, 2004 I am going to join the Texas A&M Aggies over Texas skydiving club. I am new to it, but have been a fan since I was 8. Anyways, I am pretty sure I have to provide my own gear and was wondering what would be the best free fall gear for a noob? When I say gear I mean everything I need to jump. Thanks.~Dale
koz2000 1 #2 August 17, 2004 Go talk to your instructors, it's a lot easier for them to tell you what you need. There's a lot of experience at Aggieland. .______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. AggieDave 6 #3 August 17, 2004 Howdy! Have you been out to SD Aggieland? Ags Over Texas wasn't the skydiving club, it was a local DZ that closed in 1999. SD Aggieland opened in 2002 and has been the jumping home of the TAMU Skydiving Club ever since. You don't have to buy gear, you'll want to eventually, but don't worry about it now. The Club does NONE of the training, liability reasons with the University. All of the training is done by the SD Aggieland instructional staff, although many of us (myself included) are club members. The TAMU Skydiving Club does have some "rental" rigs (by rental I mean you have to be a paid member and you jump them for free) that will get you through that time after being a student jumper and before you have your own gear. Come out to the DZ on Wednesday and I'll be more then happy to sit down with you and tell you everything you need to know. If I don't have the answers to your questions, I bet Todd (the DZO) does. If he doesn't, we'll find the answers for you.Gig'em!
